I need to create some new text clips with the animation effect you can see in this short clip where random characters are replaced with the title. Someone else created the text for me in AE and now I need to recreate the effect with some new text. Is this a text animation preset and if so which one is it? If not, how hard would this be to do for someone who is just past beginner stage in AE CS4?

    thanks much,

There’s a link to a gallery of text animation presets in the “Text animation presets” section of After Effects Help. You can browse through these to see if the animation matches one of the text animation presets.

There’s a simple example in After Effects Help that shows how to make a seemingly random set of letters change to become a target word: “Example: Offset characters”
