  • what is up with corrupted user settings?

i posted weeks ago about my xpress pro 5.7 user settings becoming corrupted all the time. what would happen is my after effects files with alpha channels would not import with the alpha. it would import entirely black or without the alpha when using Invert Alpha or Use existing option.

i had to alwasy create a new user setting with default settings just to impmort my alpha channel animations.

so i reverted back to 5.6 cause it got annoying.

then i got media composer software only with SDI mojo and sure enough the same problem is happening. What is the deal??? anyone else having this problem?? or have i hexed myself somehow?

Are you running on a MAC or PC?

I’ve seen this before on a PC several times but that was due to a corrupt Windows user account. If you’re running on a PC you could try creating a new user account and running your Avid software from there.

You’ll need to check with your IT folks first but you may be able to create a new local user account on your machine and try that. It’s not that unusual to have a corrupt Windows user account on your PC when working in a networked environment. I could be something as simple as a registry entry that leads to this type of issue.

Whenever we had issues the same as this it, it was always the Windows user account that was screwed in some way. Re-creating the user account always cleared it. The Avid user profiles were saved to a LANShare and these seemed trouble free.
