As you can tell by the title, I can’t possibly think of a way to google this question. So better to put up a picture here and have you guys answer. This happens when you expand the timeline in the program panel. At a certain point this little blue triangle pops up next to the timeline cursor. What is its purpose?

Looks like someone has placed a marker on either the clip or the timeline.

    System:
    Dell Precision T7600 (x2)
    Win 7 64-bit
    32GB RAM
Adobe CC 2014 (as of 7/2015)
    256GB SSD system drive
4 internal media drives RAID 5
Typically cutting short form from HD MP4 and P2 MXF.

Hey, Jon. No, it’s not a marker. It sits right there next to the playback cursor, and if I contract the timeline it disappears at a certain point. Try it yourself if you have the time. Just expand the timeline in the Program panel and you’ll see it pop up at a certain point.

    Hey Guys….

there has been a lot of debates over the history of NLE’s as to whether the time line cursor is looking at the incoming frame or the outgoing frame…(some systems even let you toggle this)

I think that this is an indication that PPro is looking forward.

if you are zoomed in where you see that…

and you mark an OUT, you will see that it actually adds it one frame hash to the right of where the playhead is parked…

so the out point is inclusive of the frame where the playhead is parked…

it’s a bit of a nuance….but has caused a lot of disussion over the years.

    🙂
