A client sent me a couple of DV tapes to capture, and the readout on my monitor says “NS 32K DV In.”

FCP’s capture doesn’t like it at all, can’t really capture it. BTVpro seems to handle it okay though, and the resulting DV clips seem to have 48K audio and 29.97 fps. What is this? Never heard of it.

I’d be on the phone to that client first thing tomorrow morning and asking what kind of camera recorded those tapes. Never seen that naming convention before either. Are you using BTV Pro in OS9, Chris? Perhaps the fact that an older app can capture these tapes and a newer one like FCP cannot might mean that the camera that recorded the tapes is also old technology.

    Hey Don,

Good point. I’m using BTVpro in OS X, seems to work very well with FireWire or my Decklink card, sees both and gives me a choice. I’m getting the audio in correctly, so it seems okay, just kinda strange…
