What is the simplest way to trim ?

It works in Movie Studio Platinum 12 so I guess the answer might be Yes if you don’t have it in your version.

Hi,
I never bother with I/O points. If it’s really that simple as it the OP suggests, I would just use the keys ‘S’ and ‘delete’.
-Add the video to the timeline.
-get the playhead (cursor or whatever it is called) at the first position you need a cut.
-press ‘S’ (split).
-move the cursor to the next position where you need a cut, then press ‘S’ again. (Sidenote: ‘S’ splits the currently selected event at the cursor, if nothing is selected, everything on the timeline is split at that point)
Now you have split your original material into 3 pieces.
Select a piece (by clicking it) you don’t need and press’delete’ key.
Repeat as necessary.
It can be that simple I think…If you ever will have more than one audio and video track, I’d recommend against autoripple.

Sergei’s concern is not to use the mouse and it must work within the basic version of Movie Studio, which is limited in the editing feature set (e. g. there is no Shift+Q command).
Though in the thread I linked above he already got two solutions. Don’t know why these were disregarded.

WHAT DO I PRESS, EXACTLY?
Can you open a sample media file, and write down EXACTLY what keystrokes you use to DELETE :10 to :20 ?
I literally mean everything you type. With NO MOUSE.

What you wrote does NOT work.
When you press Alt+[
it just moves the cursor back to the start of the current section.It does NOT delete anything.

Not for me. Ctrl+[ moves to the beginning and Atl+[ trims the beginning of the clip to the cursor.
Like I said, take a look at Help | Keyboard Shortcuts where it clearly states:
Trim the start of the selected event to the cursor position Alt=[

If you want to trim parts without re-encoding, use:
1) AvideMux
2) Cut Assistant
3) Cute free video editor <—- My favorite
