I teach a high school class; we haven’t acquired X yet, so started the semester on FCP 7. My rational, in the absence of another choice, was to tell kids that the FCP7 interface resembles most of what they can see out in the world, Avid, Premiere, Vegas and many other NLEs. But that for those interested, we may be road-testing FCPX next semester.
My One-to-One instructors at the local Apple Store are digging X, and I can take the class there on a “field trip” for demos.
I’m wondering what decisions you have arrived at?

September 20, 2011 at 7:34 pmLuckily, right before the release of FCPX, I had licensed both FCS 3 and CS5.5 Production Premium, meaning that I have FCP7, FCPX, and PP 5.5 to work with in my classes. We shoot exclusively DSLR for now, so I will give very brief coverage to FCPX in the intro class, just to cut some interview w B-roll. Then in the editing class, I will add both FCP and PP. Then in advanced editing, AE and Avid. What’s luck for me, is that our courses run on a 3.5 week block, so I can do a class on Avid all within the free trial period.
