I’m trying to figure out what the benefits and differences are between X-spline and bezier layers in Mocha, but just can’t figure out when to use what. Somebody that can give a quick idea of the difference of these two? It would help me a lot!

Easiest way to understand them is to simply make one of each and play around with the handles.

The X-splines will be easier to use in most cases. The handles will always mirror each other. Since one is most often just making a rough shape in Mocha, that sort of control is quicker to work with.

Bezier’s can “break” the curve with independent handle control. If you’re trying to make a crescent moon shape for example, then that’s what you’d use.

As a rule of thumb: X for organic shapes and most of your tracking needs, B for percise geometric Rotoscoping.
