[Hosam Elgendy] “I mean Can sony vegas do something that aftereffects can not do?”

Well for starters, Sony Vegas can edit multiple clips on the same track and After Effects cannot. This is because Vegas is a Non-Linear Editor, and AE is a special effects app. They serve two different purposes which is kind of why AE as the word, “After” in it’s title. It’s what you do “After” you edit your footage. It’s not a video editor.

[Hosam Elgendy] ” i use aftereffects, does learning sony vegas will improve my skills on video editing.”

Since After Effects is not a video editor (i.e., no one would try and edit a 30 minute show in AE. You would have 1000’s of tracks and it would be unmanageable) learning Vegas would help you become a video editor. Learning AE will help you become a special effects artist. So I would highly recommend learning Vegas for editing video and “telling the story” and AE for adding special effects.

So, that said to the thread: Who here uses AE as their fx engine?

If it moves . . . Shoot it!
