What is the best way to archive only the used clips from a FCPX Event?
Posted by Robert Bracken on June 25, 2012 at 5:16 pmI’m looking to archive my Event and Project files.
I can duplicate both folders but how do I only archive the video that was used in the project?
Thanks!

June 25, 2012 at 5:29 pmLike almost everything else in X, the Duplicate and Move commands are contextual.
If you’ve selected an event in the event library – your only choice is to move or duplicate the entire event.
If, on the other hand, you’ve selected a project in the project library, you have the option to duplicate or move just the included media for that project.
So as a direct answer: Select your Project. Go to the File menu. Select either Move or Duplicate Project deepening on whether you want to remove or leave the original project in it’s current location – and then select from the three choices as to whether you want to include all referenced media, just the used media, or no media (just your edit decision lists and database links, essentially.)
Hope that helps.

Thanks as always.

June 25, 2012 at 10:29 pmIt’s a straight file copy, it does not trim the media, it simply makes a copy of the full media.
