I am new to Final Cut Pro and have a question.

I am currently receiving raw footage from Soldiers in Afghanistan that is MPEG. I am using the MPEG Streamclip to covert it to quicktime to edit it in Final Cut Pro. I just found out that the forum that I am posting the video to will only allow me to post a video that is less than 100 MB so the quicktime won’t work. My first video was 7 minutes and was 960 MB. I tried to covert it from quicktime to WMW using the MPEG Streamclip but it only converted about the first 30 second of the 7 minute video and the quality was poor. Any suggestions on how to get the best quality video (under 100 MB) posted to the forum?

Or export to h.264 for a better quality export for free. He didn’t mention the site required WMV. But if it does, flip4mac is your only choice. Although Squeeze for flash also comes with a limited use of flip 4 mac encoding. It’s limited in the size of the image. Half height I believe. SD stuff is all 320×240, and they only have 2 bit rates. But the higher one is fine. It doesn’t let you tweak any settings. You’ll also get flash encoding too. Of course it costs $300-400. If you don’t plan on owning Adobe flash, it’s not a bad plan.

Never mind. Just checked out their site and the newest version is $499 and doesn’t include the wmv encoder anymore. My old version does.

    Dave,
I am converting to ProRes 422 (Proxy). Is that the best one to use?

Would it not be easier to just upload the video to youtube and then embed a link?

I am using ProRes, There are many different types of ProRes to export to. Is any one better than the other? I will eventually be converting it using the Flip4Mac that I just purchased to Windows Media.
