What is the best plugin to use to scale up a clip?

i am on Xpress pro 5.2 and have some boris fx.

October 19, 2006 at 11:48 amPiP will probably do the least damage. Bear in mind, anytime you scale video, it looks like crap – particularly DV.

October 19, 2006 at 12:19 pmPIP works, as does the Resize effect (which I use more often). I’ve personally gotten really good results from the Blowup effect (it’s under Film in your effect palette). The problem with Blowup is that you’re not going to get nearly as much finite control over the amount of resize as you will with something like PIP or Resize. As far as quality differences go, I haven’t tried them both to see if there’s a difference. If I were a betting man, however, I’d go with PIP because Jon Zanone suggests it and he knows his stuff. Ultimately, though, test it yourself and see which one you’re happiest with. Let us know what works for you and if you see any quality difference between effects.

Click the HQ button in the effect editor to bring some sharpness back.

October 20, 2006 at 1:59 pmyou will gat far superior results using After Effects for this. It will still defrigate the video, just not near as bad as Avid’s old DVE.
