  • what is going on with those mxf files???

Posted by Paul Beller on April 28, 2013 at 7:38 pm

we are talking about sv10 and mxf mpeg2 35mbps PRO files from canon xf100.

2 issues. i have a media AAA. it was used in my project. now i cannot drag it into my project, from windows explorer. it works perfectly with new empty project but not with my old project. vegas crashes.

    issue 2.
aa001.mxf – original file from the camera is 900MB. it is a interview. i want to have two audio channels in that file. original and edited, cleaned etc. so i import the file to sv10. from sv10 i open the audio in soundforge, i do the clean up and i come back to vegas. i drag the take to another audio track, so i have 2 audio tracks now – original and edited. i render the file as multichannel audio without video recompression, the same parameters for audio that original file is. so after that i have exactly the same video with replaced audio but with the same parameters as the original file. and you know what? file edited with the above routine is only 500MB.
    what happened to 400 MB?

    problem report says:

You’ve got a reported Fault in the module:

    C:WindowsWinSxSamd64_microsoft.vc90.crt_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_9.0.30729.4926_none_08e1a05ba83fe554MSVCR90.dll

On searching for this: microsoft.vc90.crt : I’ve found this:

Missing Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package

Added to which Build 738, which finished in June 2011, has commented the following:

    3.0 Known Issues VP10 738:-
If you have multiple Sony applications (such as ACID, Sound Forge, CD Architect, etc.) installed, uninstalling other Sony applications may cause your audio plug-ins to be removed from Vegas Pro. To restore your audio plug-ins, uninstall and reinstall Vegas Pro.

Now, and until somebody much wiser than I comes along, you could be looking at a reinstall of Vegas. The need for this may have come about as a result of crashes in one or two reboots and the fault is trying to rebuild that CRT thing – I dunno? OR you are running out of “space”!

What I DO know is that VP10 was a complete “mare” for me; VP11 was better and now VP12 is holding out. I use MXF files and edit them easily.

    Cheers

    thanx Graham for your efforts.
i am dealing with two issues and i made two threads maybe unnecessary.

my question in this thread is basically: what happened to 400 mb of data in the edited file?
what was that data if after editing my video stream is untouched. it was rendered without recompression. i only tweaked audio but my audio in the new mxf file is still pcm.

this new file (‘files’ to be honest, i have more than one) works normally in vegas?

i catch the difference between vob and mpg files stored in vob but here there is no change like that. i have exactly the same format and the same streams in the same container. one file is made by canon camera, another by sony vegas. one is 900mb while another only 570 to be exact? what is the difference?

[Paul Belter] “one file is made by canon camera, another by sony vegas. one is 900mb while another only 570 to be exact”

You don’t say which file is from what process?

What Template and Settings did you render to?

What was the MXF file? Rates? Colour Space?

    Need more detail.

both files are mxf 35mbps vbr, 420, pcm audio, same quantization etc
video in smaller file is untouched – the file is rendered without recompression, used sony mxf type, standard settings, main profile with multichannel option but the final file still has two channels.
take a look at what metadata shows from sony xdcam viewer.

    untitled-1.jpg

the file on the left is 900 mb, on the right 570mb but metadata in my opinion shows this shouldn’t occur.
i think i will drop a line to canon. this is really curious.
