What is done first
When you use programs like Mercalli for stabilization you are required to do a scan of the clip. The playback often has shimmering sections around the center core of your original clip. To remove this shimmering area you need to use the pan/crop tools.
My question is this what should be done first cropping or stabilization? In other words does Mercalli look at the entire original clip before you cropped it or not?

No need to use the pan crop tools in vegas or any cropping first.
Just highlight the video event you are working on and just drop
the Mercalli filter on it, select from a long list of
presets what you want or toggle to your preference and then
click the analysis button. You can Then Ram preview the results before
