What is DME track and why is it needed
If a distributor asks for a DME audio track for your movie they’re distributing what exactly are they expecting and why do they need it?

DME is the Dialog, Music, Effects track. They might want those tracks to do a remix for whatever reason.

THanks for the help. Making 3 separate tracks makes sense. I was confused because it’s called “a” DME track…as in one track.

DME… I would have thought that would be the final mix track if it is going to a distributor.
Many years ago a company I worked for was asked for a full mix copy as well as a M&E copy, which we did. Only to find out sometime later that that had been used for a ‘pirate’ copy in a different language (there were NEVER any royalties paid to the producers).
So if you have been asked to supply components or split tracks for a production assume some one wants to change things….. WHY?
ALWAYS assume there is something underhanded going on.
