What is better multiprocessing on or off ?
Hello, I am using After FX CS4 on a toshiba laptop.
I have 1,73GHZ i7 CPU , 4GB DDR3 RAM, and an NVIDIA GT330M display card.
I want to know if the multiprocessing option in the preferences will speed up my work or should I just leave it turned off?
It seems to me that when i enable this option the previewing is getting slower !
I just want to be sure of that.

Multiprocessing requires a lot of RAM — with only 4 GB of total RAM, I’m not surprised that turning it on actually slows down your system.
If you have a 64-bit version of Windows and you can add more RAM to your laptop, you might be able to improve your render times with multiprocessing. For now, I’d leave it off.

Definitely off. I run CS5 on an Alienware MX17 i7 8GB RAM and even on that system out of the 8 cores AE ends up using only 2 for multiprocessing (at the optimal 2GB per processor setup), so with just 4BG RAM all it will give you is a slower render time.
