What HD Monitor to buy?

Wish I realized it at the time they displayed analog HD out of the box. I thought you needed the $4000.00 card to get HD out of it till Walter enlightened me on these boards. (of coarse by this time they’d been discontinued by Sony) :-(“
yeah I had that same experience and got really lucky when a cow member offered a barely used pvm for $ 1,500
they do show up from time to time in the classifieds. Heck there were 2 of the 14L5’s available this month.
The BVM I mentioned is one of the few without HD option yet it has 100 more lines of resolution. weird.

Hi Chris, I think I emailed you a link to that one after seeing on one of your posts you were looking for one. I also had a BVM-20E1U and the funny thing is I could swear I saw the BKM-42 as an option for it to take HD on the Sony web site. After Sony introduced the BVM-D series that info disappeared from the BVM-20E options. It could be my imagination but I always wanted to try one of those cards in my BVM-20E1U just to find out. Sony changes their technology too fast! Their BVM HD lineup has gone from BVM-D; BVM-E to BVM-A in about 5 years. Sadly, all the input cards are not compatible in these lines.

Yeah sony is really weird about those things and I’m really peeved that I can’t just buy an HD input option for that BVM monitor, that tube can definitely handle it with 900 lines

Read this whole thread with great interest as I am looking to purchase immediately an HD monitor for client viewing fed by me NLE station. I am currently editing all SD but have the Sony XDCAM EX1 on order – so I will be viewing both. The Panasonic TH-42PH10UKA is what I’m looking at – but its native resolution is 1024×768 rather than 1920×1024, which is what the EX1 will shoot. My SD stuff looks great on this – and in a corporate setting, much of my stock SD will live on in future projects. Any advice appreciated.

Can’t go wrong with a Panny plasma as a client monitor.
We have the 50″ UKA and our clients ellohvee eee it.

Even mo betta, go for the TH-50PF10UK which is 1080p or full HD at 1920x1080p.

It is technical but I think the EX1 shoots 1080P not 1920 x 1024.
