After watching Shane’s tutorial on tapeless workflows, I noticed the attached issue…. no support for ProRes imports.

    How to upgrade that situation???

    Hey Hal

If you feel the need to transcode your XDCAM EX source footage to ProRes then you might want to hazzard a look at FCP X … that all new NLE will optionally transcode your EX footage to ProRes and/or ProRes Proxy on import of the (transferred) material.

Otherwise you could look at a third party app like Imagine’s ProxyMill, which will transcode your EX footage to ProRes on transfer:

    https://provideocoalition.com/index.php/ssimmons/story/proxymill_-_the_encoder_that_can_encode_just_about_every_camera_format/

If you are wanting that functionality built in to FCP 7 … well the product is EOL, highly unlikely that Sony will see any value in developing such functionality for legacy apps.

    Hope it helps

The reason I inquired is because of the Cow Tutorial that Shane provides. In it there is a drop down menu of options that are definitely more robust than mine.

    Thanks for the thoughtful suggestions.

I can take EX clips directly into Media 100 as ProRes 422 HQ via Sony Transfer. Media 100 is great.
