I am digitising from DVCAM at work into Avid, but taking the media home to edit on Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5. Unfortunately, that’s the only software that I have at home.

Besides targa files, what file type can be exported from Avid and used in Premiere? I am pretty certain that Premiere Pro 1.5 will not support MXF files, but do you know if Adobe Premiere CS4 will support MXF?

Would you suggest exporting a Quicktime movie? If so, what type?

I need the quality to be the best it can be. I have a 1TB drive, so space is not an issue. The video resolution needs to stay at 720p (1280×720) format.

The bigger question is what do you want to do once you did your editing at home? If you exporting formats that do not have timecode, reel ID, etc, how will the finishing be done?

The finished project will be exported to DVD. If they require timecode for reference, I am able to insert BITC later.

quicktimes with the animation codec will be your best bet, if you can’t lay it off to miniDV.

Can premiere handle quicktimes with the Avid codec?
That may be your fastest solution. Export QT’s “same as source”
    out of the avid.

Maybe you solved this but is it possible to just take the DVCAM deck home and dig straight into your Premiere box?
