What does it take to run AE well enought to get work done…
Hello All
I have an AMD Athlon 64 x2 dual core 4400+ 2.31ghz
2gb of RAM ocz ddr2 pc2-5400 667 cl-5-5-15 240pin dimm
320 GB 7200 sata2 Seagate HD as my main c drive
With a few other hard drives to work on
Adobe production studio cs2
Evga 8600gts nvidia geforce with 256mb RAM 567MHz gddr3 pci-e
Asus m2n-sli deluxe atx am2 nforce 570 sli
Windows xp pro sp2
All the latest updates for the os
I think I have the latest drivers for videoMy problem is this. I am following Maltaannons’ particle playground on fire and instead of using video footage I am using text. There are a lot of things I don’t have to do because I am using text but at the point where I try to put my text on fire I am finding that my computer slows to a crawl. I actually had to end the AE process because after waiting for it for 10 minutes it was still hung. The one thing I noticed is that it was creating 30000 particles. Maybe more. I know that’s a lot, but is it really an amount that would crash the program?
Is there any optimizations anyone would suggest? Is there anything in my config that looks to be the culprit?
I bought this machine with AE in mind. Actually with production suite in mind. Did I cheap out somewhere? I bought it last year July. It seems strange that there are others out there that can do this stuff with little slow down.
Maltaannon, if you read this, how many particles does your effect get up to? Is there a way of killing off the particles that would still give me the effect I want?
Should I use particle illusion instead? Maybe a Mac would fair better?
Please someone shed some light on this. Oh and I plan on defragging my drive overnight.
Thanks for any and all suggestions.
