what does a question mark mean at the top left of the finder window????

When you copy>paste your question into Google it came up with this-

You will find Google can help with a lot of basic information, rather than filling forums with OT posts.

I don’t have a question mark in a Finder window.

Hi Tom…ya, while i was trying to learn how to successfully upload the screenshot, Michael found my answer for me on Google (tail betwixt legs…again!). Just for practice, i will try to embed my picture:

By the way, the link Michael gave me answered the question: “command click/drag the question mark icon away”. not sure what it is doing internally, but at least the little icon is gone. : ) life is good, back to work!

You had put something there. It was an alias to something, and you moved the something. Try it. You can drag whatever you want up there into the finder windows. It’ll be in every finder window. Say you drag a file there from your desktop. Then, you throw away the file. You’ll be left with the little question mark.

Just be happy you didn’t see a big blinking question mark in the middle of your screen when you booted up! That’s bad. Very bad.
