What do you think of this alternate means of education?
I can’t find the appropriate forum for this question so I’m picking the basics. Please let me know whom to address if I’ve made a mistake.
I’m an amateur editor looking to make his way into the industry and find suitable training. I’m over 50 and work full time so going back for a degree isn’t feasible at this time.
Has anyone heard of FilmConnection.com? They offer a one-on-one Mentor/Apprentice method of education with professional film editors that have a minimum of 10 years of experience. The adviser I spoke with said that learning hours are flexible as long as the course of study is completed within six months. This means that I could meet with my mentor on weekends or evenings if our schedules allow.
Has anyone tried this or know of someone who has?
