What did I do?
I’ve been using OSX for some time but I’ve never done this before. When I click on objects to highlight them I get a black square outlining what I chose. How do I get rid of this black box it is annoying!

universal access got turned on….
go into your system prefs;
universal access;
make sure voice over isn’t turned on;if its not voice over… make sure another one of your universal access prefs isn’t turned on

Thanks that was the problem!

A few weeks back I had hit a weird combination of keys that caused Universal Access to change its settings.
My monitor image was like an inverted black & white.
I thought I had a bad monitor; fortunately once I asked Help it directed me to Universal Access and I was able to change back.
Stuff Happens…
