  • What audio/video output card now analogue and tape are gone?

Posted by Jonathan De villiers on May 17, 2011 at 1:14 pm

    Hi,

I know tape hasn’t gone for many people but it has for me. Ditto analogue capture.

However I want to monitor an HD video signal out of FCP on one of my Eizo CG243Ws which has a Displayport input (and a REC 709 preset). I also need high quality audio monitoring.

    I often edit 25p.
My Blackmagic HD Extreme card doesn’t do 25p properly and only has SDI out. I’ve tried a Blackmagic HD Link to send a Displayport signal to the Eizo but with 25p it either has combing artifacts or is soft.
AJA specify 25p for all their cards but I would rather not have to spring for a Kona LHi because so much of what it does is irrelevant for my needs.

Any other suggestions for a suitable video/audio output card?

    Cheers,

    Jonathan

Matrox MXO2 LE is among the most cost efficient I/O devices available, but you’re going to have to get yourself a “real” video monitor, computer monitors with display port connections are just that, computer monitors.

I’ve had broadcast monitors, the Eizo is better than most of the budget ones and is designed as a 10-bit hybrid computer/video monitor. The LCD panel is as good as anything out there and Eizo UK have sold large numbers into some of the biggest London post houses.

Which Matrox model do you recommend? How good is the HDMI signal (especially for 25p)?
