  • What are the best size/colour/font settings to use on DVDSP?

Posted by Alex Bond on January 5, 2006 at 7:29 pm

Can someone tell me what is the best way to display a few paragraphs of text on my DVDSP project? I’m trying to put a shortened version of my resume on screen but finding it hard to find a combination of fonts or colours which are legible.

This seems to be quite hard to get right yet whenever I put a Hollywood DVD in my player all their text (obviously) looks fine – Are there some golden rules I’m missing?

    Thanks in advance,

    Alex.

does dvdsp have a text generator?

I would avoid it if it does.

    in any case:

    1. avoid any size font smaller than 18 points.

    2. avoid serif type or any type of font that has thin areas.

    3. legal white should work (235,235,235)

and remember that if it looks fuzzy on your computer screen that is normal and it WILL appear sharper on a television display.

[Borjis] “does dvdsp have a text generator?”

Yes, it does. Not spectacular, but not bad, and certainly convenient.

Avoid any kind of thin font, especially script, calligraphy or most of the ‘handwriting’ type fonts.
