What Are Recommended Workflow/Settings HDV (Sony FX1) to DVD – PP2 and Encore2
Hi.
I’m doing HDV test with my FX1. I’m doing a long shot of trees zoomed tight and slowly widen out (over 15 seconds). Playback of mpeg clip in PP2 looks fine, smooth, no artifacts. However – playback of clips after export to mpeg2-DVD or uncompressed AVI file produces a wavy, shimmery, wierd artifact that’s most notable along a vertical line in center of frame.
Encore2 created DVDs using the mpeg2-DVD or uncompressed files “faithfully” reproduced the wavy, shimmery artifacts.
My PP2 setting for capture were Adobe HDV , HDV1080i 30 (Sony60i).
The problem seems to occur when converting the original mpeg file created by the original capture.
One other note – a 780 by 400 mov clip created by exported using Quicktime Animation codec plays back with no problem. However, this won’t import to Encore. Encore says it needs 720×480 or 720×486 or 704×480. I did create a mov 720×480 but playback of this also showed the wavy, shimmery problem.
I did burn a DVD from PP2 using the 780×400 mov clip and it came out fine.
Bottom line – what is the preferred workflow and project capture settings in PP2 and what settings to use in the encode process to export for Encnore?
Many thanks for any insights. alan
