What about Premiere?
Posted by Sahaba on June 8, 2005 at 11:15 amHI everyone. I wanted to know, after fully learning Adobe After Effects, is it worth learning Premiere? What advantages are there in premiere over AE, or tasks it could handle more efficiently or faster??
Thanks!

June 8, 2005 at 12:52 pmI wouldn’t ask this question if I knew everything about AE… 😉
Here’s how it works for me: I do the editing job in Premiere, and when it comes to effects, I bring the Premiere project to AE to spice it up.

But I heard that you can still do some effects in Premiere. I just want to know what is it that makes things better in Premiere,, the interface? The speed??

June 8, 2005 at 1:05 pmSpeed of workflow. AE is a lousy editor because it renders every frame.
If you’re editing in the DV codec, cuts-only, in Premiere (or any Non-linear editor), you can work very quickly and preview instantly. Try moving a 30-second clip by one frame in an NLE, and try doing that in AE. You’ll see the difference right away.
Also, NLEs have tools that do simple jobs very quickly.
But AE can do much much more in the way of animation, graphics and effects. No comparision.
Yes, depending on your NLE and hardware($), you can edit this fast with other codecs and higher quality.
No, there is no hardware that will allow AE to preview instantly like an NLE.
Yes, you can achieve the same final product in AE, but you’ll feel your life slipping away with every render every time you slip or slide a clip.
