I own a Panasonic DVX100 camera and I am hearing lots of talk about not using Sony tapes. I normally use Fuji tape in my camera. I need to understand wet tape vs. dry tape and if anyone can tell me the best tape for my camera I would apreciate it.

The “Dry” type tapes have particles that are 1/4th the size of “wet” lube tapes. Most of the discussions I have heard are of switching back and forth between the two types. Wet + Dry= Mud is the general thought.

Just for a reference point, I only use Dry and I did not have my first head clog until I reached 120 hours on the heads.

    Just my 2 cents.

I’ve heard this theory too. Does Panasonic manufacture a Dry tape that would be good for general shooting? I’d like to stick exclusively to Panasonic tapes to avoid confusion/tape mixing.

I use the MQ tapes for everything. My thinking is that I have a high end camera (compared to what I had in the past) so I will use high end tapes. In this case it’s the only end for tapes.

Hmmm, so much for a water tight theory.
