    Hey guys

One of our suites is doing the oddest thing on capture. We’re capturing SD 8 bit – not too big a task one would have thought – and regularly, around every 30 seconds or so, the capture preview window hangs for about five seconds before speeding up as if rushing to regain sync. When it does this it doesn’t seem to affect the captured clip but…

Once in a while the external monitor does the same thing, pausing the picture for a few seconds before switching to fast motion to ‘catch up’ and then settling down, now back in sync. When the external monitor does that, the clip is captured with the effect.

This machine is a Mac Pro Quad 3GHz, 13GB RAM (don’t ask) NVidia GeForce 7300, Apple 2GbFC card to XSERVE RAID, Decklink 6.8.7, OSX 10.5.6 Quicktime 7.4, FCP Studio 2 with an HD Extreme.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers

Phew. Five years and all I had to do was post a support request;-) Can’t complain about the proactive approach to that.

Any ideas about the problem guys?

    Cheers

    Hi Shane,

Maybe try capturing to your internal SATA drive which will be capable of 8-bit uncompressed and see if the same thing is happening. Try to rule out any XServe related issues first.
