Weirdest thing…any ideas?
I had a motion graphics guy send me an animation in two parts. He rendered them as Animation 1080i 29.97. Because of a changing situation I had to change them to Pro Res 720p 59.94. I probably should have handled this in Compressor but I did it with FCP — just laying them adjacent to each other on timeline and exporting. But here’s the extremely odd thing:
When I exported as QT movie from Final Cut, with the in and out points properly set, FCP only exported the first of the two animation clips on the timeline. I tried again with the same result. So I accepted it and went back to the timeline, deleted the first clip and exported again, with my in and out points set at the head and tail of the clip. But FCP rendered only the first half of the clip. I had to go back and set a new in point midway through the clip and export again. FCP again only rendered only half of what I asked — from the in point to half-way to the out point. I had to go back and do successive renders, each time getting only half of what I asked for. Eventually I ended up with enough for my final project — in a series of successively smaller clips laid on the new timeline.
What gives? Is this a function of going from 29.97 to 59.94? Is there a way to do this that actually works inside of FCP?
