Weird things on Import

What OS are you on?

Apple has done weird things on an OS level with AVCHD.

Is this from a camera? Can you see the card structure in the Finder?

In the fcpx import window, try double clicking the encompassing folder so it is the only folder available in the import window, rather than the directory tree you have in your orig screengrab.

Hi Jeremy,

I’m on 10.8.4.
In the finder, I see this stupid new thing, that shows it as package.
In X, when I click on the top folder, that contains the copied card, I see all the clips in list view, but I can’t change the view, nor choose e.g. To hide already imported material.
Also: I’d be curious, how I can rock through a card and in the end, only import my selected ranges. Now, it imports also the clips I did not set any ranges on, fully.

I’m truly sorry if I don’t explain myself good, I try again:
Even if nothing inside the clip is selected range wise, it does it. Lets say I finished going through my whole card, some clips I marked completely, some clips one or several ranges and some clips nothing. Now, I have to select inside my card folder all the clips and then press import. How would I remember with more than 100 clips, which ones were not selected? And if I selected them all, it imports even the ones I did not set an in and out point on, as complete clip. Any workaround, to get something more close to the trustworthy L&T window?

X is seeing the files as QT movies because the OS sees the files as QT movies.

Just like fcp7, you can’t log and transfer QT movies.

So, you need to trick the OS in to thinking its a different type of structure.

You can try it on one card first by right clicking and choosing to show package contents.

Also, do you have a physical card of this material or is it all on a hard drive?

No, I got only the material on a external HD, but copied in the correct way – full structure intact.
So, you think I should try your link you send me?
Won’t I screw too much with the card structure in doing this?
