    Good People of Creative Cow:

I have a FCP sequence with two audio components:

    1. Various chopped-up clips of an interviewee talking put together.
    2. Continuous, ambient natural sound meant to hide my edits.

At one point, I key-frame down the guy’s voice from regular volume to -inf in order to avoid the “click” that comes when you just cut off an audio clip. During the fall in his audio, there is a weird, rackety noise. Once the audio reaches zero, it sounds fine.

I muted the nat sound, and everything was fine and the sound was gone; it’s only when I played both tracks together that the weird, rackety sound occurs.

The nat sound, it should be noted, was recorded right after the interview in the same location with the same mic, so it sounds a lot like the background noise in the guy’s voice. There’s considerable background noise, but not that much; it’s a pretty good interview as far as quality.

Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Odd indeed…

Try exporting the Voice clip you’re changing as a self contained movie, then cut that export back in?
