  • Weird looking ‘trim left one frame’ button

Posted by Aaron Duprey on July 28, 2011 at 5:52 pm

Anyone ever seen this? It’s been plaguing me for a long time — the button for ‘trim left one frame’ looks strange. It functions perfectly (it’s mapped to [comma]), but everywhere the button appears in the GUI — command palette, keyboard layout, buttons under source/record monitors — it looks like it’s “broken”. 😀

I had a feeling that was my settings somehow — I’ve been carrying my Avid settings with me since 1998, back when I was on an AVBV system, and just importing and using those settings with each iteration of the software. However, I checked out other users’ settings, and it happens for everyone on my machine.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

I’ve seen it too. I think it’s just a 5.5 thing. Not worried me a great deal, but would be interesting if anyone knows what causes it.

I’m currently running 5.0.4, and it’s been with me since 4.x, if I recall correctly.

My understanding is that the best practice is to rebuild your user settings from scratch. I came across this on the Avid boards when v5.0 was released.

Have you tried creating a new user to see if it makes a difference ?

I’ve got the same issue. If you look on the Avid forum, it seems to be related to installing the BCC plugins, and I think it only affects Macs. No one seems to have a solution for it. Thankfully it doesn’t affect the way Media Composer works, It’s just a bit irritating.

Just tried creating a new user, and it’s still there. Bummer! Oh well.

I’ve had the corrupt trim left button for a while too.
I’ve even tried a total clean install of MC.
    And yes, I am on a mac…
And I’d sure love to see it go !
Not certain I have BCC installed as I never use it
but I’ll check as soon as I get back from vacation.

Isn’t there someone somewhere who managed to get rid of this ?
