I used iDVD to create a DVD based on a QuickTime movie I created in Final Cut Pro. When I put the DVD in my player and it came up on my 42″ plasma, the opening graphics looked fine and functioned properly. However, when I played the movie and someone would move across the screen (it was a wedding reception), the image would be all blocky, almost like a checkerboard. It would hold steady and clear as long as the subjects weren’t moving a lot, but when a transition happened or someone moved I’d get the weird checkerboards again.
I shot it in standard def on a minidv cassette. What do I need to change to get the images to look as good on TV as they do on my computer monitor?
