Weird extracted footage size
I have some old footage that has been archived on a DVD from satellite broadcast. When I try to extract it into a DV stream (for input into FCP) it gives me a video image that is 348×474, that’s 384 pixels wide by 474 pixels tall (I have no idea how this works out).
However, when played back through DVD Player or VLC it shows up 4:3. When extracted it shows up weird and FCP won’t really let me work with it at all.
How in the world can I get this footage to a true normal anamorphic 4:3 ratio of 632×474 or anything similar? I am stuck and really needing some help. -

Hi Brent,
FC doesn’t work with DV Streams (,DV). That’s the proprietary format of iMovie.
Use MPGStreamclip and export as QT movie. Export as NTSC DV, DV50, 8b Unc or ProRes.

Just using different kind of pixels.
NTSC VCD are 352×240, and SVCD NTSC are 480×480. However when converted to video they are standard NTSC.
