  • weird error on import

Posted by Deleted User on March 12, 2007 at 7:16 pm

ive made a video in After Effects. exported as an mpeg2 file. all is good so far. i work in encore to make a menu, etc. now i try to import the mpeg2 file and i get this error.

The software thats used to decode this software is not available on this system. Installing the correct decoders for the files you are working with may correct the problem…

    please help. thanks

I would just export the file from AE as a .AVI and then import this into Encore and allow Encore to do the encoding… it does a good job…

AVI is far, far better than MPEG-2.
MPEG-2 uses massive compression, AVI is much less.
For absolute highest quality from AE, get hold of the BlackMagic codec & export as 10 bit BlackMagic MOV file.
Encode this to MPEG-2 and import into Encore.

You can use any MPEG-2 encoder that will accept a MOV/Quicktime file.
CCE-SP, TMPGEnc Xpress 3 or greater, MainConcept, ProCoder 2 etc.
Alternatively, just import the MOV file right into EncoreDVD 2 and it will deal with it for you automatically. I have found this can do a really good job plus you don’t need to think about any settings at all.
