I’m experiencing a strange ‘effect’ while trying to apply a few effects.

Mac Pro G5 Quad core 4GB RAM FCP 6.0.6

I’m working on a 1280 x 720 project that I shot with an EX-1. Everything is fine until I try to apply more than one effect to a clip (any clip).

For example I’ve uploaded two images. The first is with a Noise filter applied (The footage was acquired in B&W, thats not a filter)

The second is with a Strobe added to the Noise filter.

I’ve tried various combination of different filters from different folders and this interaction only seems to happen with multiple filters from the Stylize Effects folder and/or the Time Effects Folder.

    Hi Ken,
this sounds to me that you are applying some fxplugs and your GPU can not cope with them.

These are filters that came with FCP. I haven’t installed any third-party effects.

BTW, I didn’t mention in my post, these anomalies appear as soon as you apply the second filter. It’s not just there during playback. Rendering does not correct it…

Actually, upon further experimenting, I found that if I insert any filter except for one from the Stylize or Time folders between the two problem filters, the problem goes away. I guess they just don’t want to be neighbors…
