Weird cross dissolve phenomenon
So I put a cross dissolve from a clip to black slug and it has this weird problem. Before it goes totally black it does fades up a quick few frames of the clip that are pixelated and negative. I’ve tried deleting the clip and slug and re-inserting them in the timeline and the same problem. I’ve also tried work arounds like keyframing the opacity and brightness and it does the same. I have other cross dissolves on the timeline and they work okay dissolving from one clip to the next. I also have another system working on the same project and same clips and it works fine.
I’m very puzzled. Please help

A quick workaround is to put a Slug or a Black Color Matte on the video layer ABOVE the clip in question and add a dissovle to it or ramp its opacity up or down.

Is there something in the clip that’s showing up? Try bumping your edit point in 10 frames or so and see if the glitch moves with it.

So I tired the work around of adding the black slug on the video 2 track and it didn’t work either. So I figured out that the other cross dissolves from clip to clip work fine but this only happens when I’m fading to black, that I get the dark negitive picture before fade out.
Any have any ideas?

How many video layers do you have on thsi timeline?

Is there any reason why you’re not keyframing the dissolve? If you’re set on the stock dissolves, use a different one. There are a couple buried in there. One is called cross dissolve and another is called cross fade, I believe.
