  • Weird Batch Digitize Problems with 10Bit 720p

Posted by Greg Jones on August 22, 2005 at 1:26 am

    Hey Guys,

I’m having some major problems batch digitizing 10bit Uncompressed 720p HD Clips. Please let me know if anyone else has experienced these:

    1. When I batch digitize every other clip freezes the computer up. I’ll mark a few clips for batch, then when I set it up to batch digitize, one clip will digitize fine then the next clip will start to digitize then freeze the computer up.

    2. When I finally do get all of my clips digitized, the clip icons turn into weird sub-clip looking icons(jaggy edges) and when I click on the clip icon black comes up in the viewer. If I find the clip in the capture scratch folder and import it from the disk, the clips shows up fine.

    3. When I digitize a 10bit Uncompressed clip if I try to resize the clip, scaled up or down, the clip disappears. If I put it to 100% size the clip shows up again.

    4. The 10bit Codec still looks a little compressed to me. Around text I can see pixelization.

    Any comments would be Welcome

This problem was reported in earlier posts.

I believe that the clips capture fine and then you have to trash the subclips and import and relink the clips from the drive they were captured to.

I think that the 1.1.2 driver has resolved these batch capture issues.

You can download that from the AJA site.

Thanks for the info. I’ve already installed 1.1.2 and I’m still having weird problems. Final Cut Pro 5 is extremely buggy. I hope they come out with some fixes soon.

YOu’ve upgraded to FCP 5.02? This was supposed to have taken care of batch capture problems..
