Weird audio brown bar problem
When I open my premiere project file; the audio in the timeline shows this:
When I double click the timeline audio, it points to the right source name and ins and outs work just fine, but without the actual audio in the source file. Revealing in project, it points to the correct file which shows in the source and plays just fine.
I found that when I tried to take the ins and outs from the weird timeline audio and recreate that subclip using the audio file in bin that works, the original computer (let’s call it computer 1) I’ve been using to cut and save this project is pointing to the wrong portion of the audio. Opening it up on Computer 2, the exact same process that failed to work earlier, worked just fine in reconnecting.
Have any of you seen this problem before? And is there an easy way to fix it? On Computer 1, we tried both clearing media cache and restarting the computer. Is there something else we can test?

To fix it, in your timeline right click the affected clip and select “audio channels”. You’ll notice the assignment for your speakers are all set to “none”, set these to whatever is appropriate for your project and hit ok.
This is most common when bringing over a rough cut from Prelude.
