I’m using PPro 1.5 and for the first time applied the shadow/highlight effect to a dark clip. It lightened it up really nicely, but with the effect applied, there’s a kind of flickering across the clip, some graininess and, worst of all, some kind of dark artifact running across the bottom of the screen–none of these things are there without the effect applied.

    Any help with this appreciated.
    thanks-

I have noticed the same “issue”.

I try adjusting the filter in the effects control to see what happens.

Shadow/highlight works great in Photoshop for my still images, but it doesn’t seem the best for lightening video images.

Try the brightness and contrast filter and see how that compares.
