    Hi there….

I’ve got several green screen clips that I keyed out in AE using primatte. Rendered them out of AE with animation codec + alpha. When I put the footage over a background in FC I see a thin, soft, white halo surrounding the matte and also the key doesn’t look as clean as it does in AE. The halo doesn’t go away when I force FC to render either.

As a test, I did the final composite in AE and it did, in fact, look much better.

Is there something we should know about FCP’s ability to handle alpha? Should I be using a different process? Weird.

In the FCP Browser window, go to the column that says Alpha. Switch between “Straight” “Black” and “White” by right-clicking it for that clip. Drag it back to the timeline. This should fix the problem.
