Web Proxies
Hey Everyone,
I’m struggling to get proxies working in the webclient for CatDV. For a little background, my server is windows based but my clients are mac based. I was struggling to get the path mapping to work in this environment for the rich client but now have it working. The windows clients see the path mappings as UNC and the mac sees them as mac file paths. Here is a screen shot of what I did to get them working.
screenshot2014-01-06at5.18.22pm.pngI think I’ve identified the key pieces of information for the problem in the webclient. When I click on the CatDV logo on the website and look at the proxy path I see “Proxy Root:null” and when I look at the media tab I see the original file path listed not the proxy path. Unless the file is added from a mac then the proxy path is just empty.

you will need to use the same substitutions for mac and windows paths in the web proxies pathing to get things to work in a mixed environment

Thanks for the help Dougal,
between those links I got the proxies up and running. I had to change my path mappings a little for the web proxies as compared to normal mapping for proxies. They run perfectly on Macs now and will run in firefox under windows, however quicktime crashes every time I try to use chrome. Haven’t had a chance to test on a second PC so this may just be a machine specific error. Anyways thanks again, I really appreciate it!
