Wavey Lines During Motion After Compression
Steve Tamou
February 5, 2016 at 11:48 pmHello, I am editing a video that was shot in 3 different angles with 3 diferent cameras. After editing the video and compressing it right out of FCP7, I’m getting one of the camera angles giving me waving lines during motion. I compressed it for Vimeo using there guidelines. Also, 2 of the cameras shot with 29.97FPS and the other shot in 30FPS. But the wavey lines are happening with one of the 29.97FPS cameras. What Could be the problem? The output is a Quicktime Movie (.mov). Thank You in advance.

February 6, 2016 at 12:44 amI’m going to guess and say that one camera shot interlaced, while the others shot progressive. Computer displays cannot show interlacing properly.

February 6, 2016 at 4:32 amI agree with Shane but the question is: Did you render as interlaced or progressive? …and if you rendered progressive, it sounds like you didn’t deinterlace the footage properly. If you rendered interlaced then it’s more than likely what Shane said, a computer can’t display interlaced video properly but it will be fine on a TV. (but it’s probably the former and you need to deinterlace the footage properly).
