To this day I still don’t understand which boxes to check in order to get proper readings on the waveform videoscope – 7.5 IRE Setup or Studio RGB or Both or None?! Everything changes when you check the boxes. Is there a sure fire way to know what I should be doing so that all my blacks and whites and everything is NTSC legal? I notice when you check the 7.5 IRE box it moves “0” up to 7.5% At least I think that is what that solid horizontal white line represents? As you can see I’m confused overall 🙁

Basically, unless you are going to broadcast via analog tape, you can forget about the 7.5 setup.

Adam Wilt (adamwilt dot etc) has a nice writeup explaining 7.5 setup.

Ok cool, so leave the 7.5 checkbox unchecked, what about the other, about the RGB color thing?

I always use Studio RGB, but nothing I’ve shot has gone directly to air.
