Can the waveform display that is built in to the new Panasonic Lcd broadcast monitors replace a Textronix or Leader WFM? Or like the FCP display, do they just get you in the ballpark?

Well… my take on this would be to use it for a ballpark estimate.

I can’t say for sure if they are dead on but it’s not a engineering scope by any means and this is just an added feature to the monitor. So… my guess would be not to trust it with your life. If you are in the field with this monitor, it will definitely get you in the ballpark. BUT, if you’re in the edit room, use a Tektronix or Leader scope if you can afford one.

Look at it this way… How accurate can it be if its just a selling point? If Panasonic truly made it accurate, it would be awesome. So far, I haven’t seen or heard any complaints about this feature so it must be somewhat accurate.
