In an effort to try and improve my silly videos,
was experimenting with Audition cc 2014.

I noticed if I do a simple narration, it only records on the right channel, not stereo.

If I take the microphone and capture audio from the TV the same thing happens.

I tried to change the preferences but would up with things not matching up.

Could it be the inexpensive wireless lapel mic from Radio Shack?
Tried an old, I mean old plug in mic and wound up with a poorer sound but still no stereo.

    What am I missing?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thank you for taking the time to post.

Are you using an USB audio interface or are you using sound card/onboard audio?
Are you recording in 2 track mode or multi-track mode? In either mode you can select which input to use.

In any case to use a mono mic with a stereo input you should have it routed to the left channel as it defaults to mono sound if nothing is connected to the right channel. In Audition you can specify the channel to use for input and whether it is mono or stereo recording.
    Happy recording
