I’ve had this happen multiple times before, but I don’t know what causes it (every time it scares the hell out of me and leaves my ears in agony).

In the past, I have fixed it by reconnecting the WAV media in the timeline back to the source, but I’m fairly sure it just blew out part of the built-in speakers on my iMac. I feel this is a reasonable claim to have my speakers replaced, so I’d liek to understand the problem if possible (AND stop it from happening again…my ears can’t take it anymore).

NOTE: My co-editor has also experienced this on multiple occasions.

PROJECT INFO: I’m editing a docu-reality series on three 1TB drives within SATA 2.5 enclosures across FW800.

Has anyone dealt with these random audio explosions? Any thoughts or solutions?

    Thanks all!!

One thing to try is convert the WAV files to FCS-friendly 48khz AIFF 16 bit.
