WAV files files recorded with H4N Zoom have “pulse” in some files
Hi everyone. I’ve been using my H4N zoom for about 6 years and in the last year a large part of the audio files I record have a sort of audio “pulse” (crack/bump) ongoing within the file, sometimes just for the first minute and other times for the whole files, making it unusable. The H4N zoom has been a trusty and reliable instrument for years–but for some completely mystifying reason SOME (not all) of the files have this bump/pulse. Some files only have it in the first 30 seconds or 1 minute, then they even out. I don’t see any clear trends.
What’s really weird is that the bump is not as prevalent if I transfer the files in one by one off the SD card rather than transferring in bulk (although some files are also getting an Error 100007 popup on my MacBook when I try to drag them from the SD card).
I’d like to know if there is any way to fix these distorted files. I just replaced the H4N machine and I won’t use it any more; but if I could repair those audio files it will mean I didn’t lose a lot of precious lav mic recordings that make the difference in commercial viability for 2 different projects.
I’m going to attach some of these files to see if anyone can identify the problem, or the solution.
Thank you very very much <3
