    Hey Guys!

I’m planning to do a underwater music video shoot.
I’m curios how Cunningham did the water keying in the “Portishead – Only you”. The Video were the boy and the woman are in the streets but they move like underwater.

Can it be done with normal greenscreen-keying? IS it posssible to do it in after effects? I think especially the hair would be quite tricky, wouldnt it?

Ok, does anybody have experiences in this kind of keying who can give me some basic informaion.

    Thanx for your help,
    Simon

I would blue-screen this, as if there are slight keying problems the water should help correct this. Use a tranfer mode on the keyed subject, and possibly the displacment map using the luminance in the water to distort the subject.

As far as AE, Keylight (free w/AE) is one of the best keyers in the world so if it’s lit right you should be able to key it. I have the Chris Cunningham DVD and I think in the commentary he said they were just shot in water with only the subject lit so the rest is black. Then it is probably SCreen transfered onto the dark BG (Street scene). So there may not be keyeing at all.

Might want to pick up the DVD and listen to the commentary.
