    [Rick Bushell] “Desperate”

#1 – don’t create a “second patient” (from my first-aid training). First let’s stabilize the patient.

FYI de-fragging will almost never fix anything, and is rarely needed nowadays.

Create a system restore point before doing anything else. Be sure to create the type that will allow you to roll back files.

Do you have a restore point available from before the problem? DO NOT roll back to it yet.

Post a screen shot of the error window for us to look at.

Give us more details about the project – source files, properties, etc.

Give us more details about your system – have a look at our “signatures”, and create one with that kind of info on your setup.

You mention that Vegas has been crashing, provide more details about that.

If you have access to any kind of disk imaging software, use it to take a full image backup of the disks in question.

Run chkdsk but DO NOT let it fix errors – just see if it reports problems. Here is a sample from my computer:

    C:Windowssystem32>chkdsk
The type of the file system is NTFS.
    Volume label is OS.

I really appreciate the time Steve. But so I don’t waste your valuable time I should run something past you but I don’t think it belongs on a public forum. I looked into hoeco.com but got lost. Climbing?

    Rick
